This project started in 2015 with a personal Instagram profile called China Artlover. Later there was also a Facebook page, which is now a collection around basic information about Chinese Art in a broader way and for Contemporary Chinese Art in particular. It should give you a quick overview of arts, artists, galleries, and related facts to this topic in China and around the world.
Outside China, it is not very easy to get access to Contemporary Chinese Art apart from already big artists like Ai Weiwei, Liu Ye, Yue Minjun, or Cai Guo-Qiang you might have seen in big museums shows.
You can imagine that in a country with the size of China there are so many young and talented artists which showcase their own self-conception of Chinese Art – and we want to help to shed some light on these artists you would only be able to see if you travel to China (while doing some of our art walks! 🙂
A call to collaborate
Even though China Artlover started as a private project, today it is meant to be a collective approach to support the passion in Chinese Contemporary Art. Also, we hope it will help to be a platform for intercultural exchange to better understand cultures and people through art as a creative and open medium.
Therefore we are looking for friends, artists, and contributors to help share their passion for Chinese Contemporary Art and especially Young Emerging Artists. We are happy to share or reshare content around Chinese Art as well as featuring artworks on our Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram accounts (For free of course!)
Please contact us for a feature or join as Co-Author.
The China Artlover(s)
Sascha Kurfiss (Founder)
Sascha started China Artlover in 2015 as a personal project in Beijing and later in Shanghai. While living for 5 Years in China, he witnessed a new generation of artists making their way out of Chinese universities and into the art market. But a lot of them stay unknown to foreigners, nor do people have a chance to see their works or understand any context around it. After relocating back to Germany, Sascha is keeping his passion alive with this project and sharing as much as possible with other China Artlovers. Follow Sascha on Linkedin / Instagram
