This year marks the 90th anniversary of Luciano Pavarotti’s birth, celebrated as one of the legendary “Three Tenors” and among the greatest voices of the 20th century. Renowned for his extraordinary artistry and captivating charisma, Pavarotti brought the elegance of bel canto and opera to global audiences. He visited China four times, including two trips to Shanghai, where he performed operas, held recitals, and conducted masterclasses, forging a deep connection with Chinese audiences. His 2005 Shanghai concert, accompanied by the Shanghai Opera House Orchestra, remains an unforgettable highlight.
To honor his legacy, the Shanghai Opera House presents “The Voice. The Man. The Legend” — A Concert Celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Luciano Pavarotti, the only tribute concert worldwide officially authorized by the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation. Held as part of the 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival on October 12, the event features Maestro Lü Jia conducting the Shanghai Opera House Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Acclaimed singers from China and Italy, including Yusif Eyvazov, Gregory Kunde, Olga Peretyatko, Yu Haolei, Xu Xiaoying, Wang Xiaoxi, He Chao, Giulia Mazzola, and Emanuele Pellegrini, will perform iconic arias and excerpts from Pavarotti’s illustrious career, paying musical tribute to the opera legend.
