The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring quality control and inspection of piping materials and components, ensuring compliance with international standards, project specifications, and company quality requirements. The role involves supplier/vendor coordination, third-party inspections, documentation management, reporting, and
Close collaboration with internal teams. The position may include international travel for vendor inspections.
Key Responsibilities & KPAs:
- Quality Control Processes
- Oversee implementation of quality control procedures in alignment with industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with product specifications and customer requirements.
- Product Inspections & Testing
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of piping components (pipes, valves, flanges, gaskets, bolts, etc.) for compliance with project specifications and applicable international codes (ASME, ASTM, API, ISO).
- Detect defects or deviations and minimize acceptance of non-conforming items.
- Supervise inspection activities and participate in product testing.
- Ensure all required quality certificates are issued.
- Non-Conformance & Quantity Issues
- Manage and resolve supplier-related non-conformance issues.
- Identify internal vs. external errors and escalate to Purchasers when necessary.
- Document all material non-conformities formally.
- Escalate critical deviations immediately to the QA/QC team and support corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain a log of non-conformances for traceability.
- Third-Party Inspections (TPI)
- Arrange and coordinate third-party inspections at mills and supplier locations.
- Handle non-conformities during inspections and ensure resolution with mills.
- Assist third-party and client inspectors to ensure full compliance with inspection checklists.
- Documentation & Records Management
- Oversee the preparation of Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and other technical documentation.
- Ensure proper documentation is submitted for customer approval and stored for audit/reference.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and audit-ready reports, including photos, Material Test Certificates (MTCs), compliance certificates, and technical observations.
- Maintain organized, accessible, and audit-compliant documentation for each PO and inspection.
- Quality Reporting & Defect Analysis
- Submit inspection reports within 24–48 hours of material receipt or site visit.
- Analyze defects and contribute to corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare quality reports for senior management review.
- Supplier & Client Collaboration
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Coordinate with clients for quality documentation approvals and address queries.
- Delivery & Production Monitoring
- Monitor and follow up to ensure adherence to delivery/production timelines.
- Coordinate closely with suppliers to maintain schedules and communicate changes in a timely manner.
- Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and support the quality control team, ensuring optimal performance.
- Foster a collaborative work environment and provide technical guidance.
- Standards Compliance
- Ensure all inspected items conform to relevant standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, ASTM A105, API 5L).
- Stay updated with code revisions and apply correct standards per project requirements.
- Efficient Travel & Inspection Planning
- Organize vendor visits effectively to optimize time and complete inspections as scheduled.
- Ensure timely submission of reports and follow up remotely if needed.
- Cross-Department Communication
- Collaborate with procurement, engineering, QA/QC, and logistics teams to ensure inspection readiness.
- Provide early alerts on potential material issues impacting project timelines.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify improvement opportunities within QC and inspection processes.
- Actively contribute to cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing initiatives.
- Additional Duties
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Education & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in quality control and material inspection, with strong focus on piping components and mandatory Oil & Gas sector experience
