The Thousand-Hand Bodhisattva is a landmark Chinese dance drama that blends traditional culture with modern stagecraft. Through mesmerizing dance, music, and multimedia, it brings to life the story of the Bodhisattva of Compassion. A visually stunning experience that’s both powerful and deeply moving.
Synopsis:

The Thousand-Hand Bodhisattva tells a legendary folk tale. Long ago, the Kingdom of Dai was plagued by a deadly epidemic, and even the benevolent King Huiyuan fell ill. The compassionate Third Princess volunteered to search for a sacred lotus to save her father. Guided by a red dragonfly, she journeyed across mountains and rivers, enduring countless trials until she discovered the mystical lotus flower—connected to her own meridians and life force. Moved by the suffering of humanity, she ultimately sacrificed the lotus to heal the world.
The production unfolds over two acts and 12 scenes, including titles such as “Journey for the Lotus,” “Dragonfly’s Guidance,” “Wisdom Awakens,” “Healing the World,” and the final, awe-inspiring scene “Thousand Hands, Thousand Eyes.” Through 12 choreographic tableaux and songs, the story conveys a central message:
“As long as your heart holds light and love, reach out your hands and share warmth with the world.”
